Today we started early on a walking tour of Sydney. We had a meeting first thing about Australian culture and learning phrases like “Hey, Mate”, and “No Worries”. I was surprised how similar to American Culture is to Australian but also how very different the two cultures can be. After the meeting about how to act and the do’s and don’ts in the work place, we were off to explore Sydney. We walked through Hyde park, which was stunning, then explored the Anzac Memorial. We walked down to Woolloomooloo by the ships and marina to Harry’s Cafe De Wheels. We tried the famous Australian pie which definitely had a unique taste. We then cut through the Botanical Gardens and made our way to Circular Quay which is where the Sydney Opera House is. We were signed up to go on the jet boat but unfortunately about 10 minutes into our trip we had engine problems and had to come back in. No worries though, we all received vouchers to go on another ride at another time. Once the other group was done boating we took the train back home, and finally got to relax! In total we walked about 7 miles so taking the train home was nice, though the train system here is quite confusing. We were on our own for dinner tonight and since we live in the heart of china town, my friends and I decided on Chinese, which was pretty good. After dinner we had a quick walk back to the hotel and it was lights out!
Cheers!
