So as usual I have fallen behind on my blog posts, but I am back at it now! Today was a work free day because it was the Queen of England’s birthday and that is a celebrated Australian Holiday. It was a simple day Martha and I went to the WILD zoo in Darling Harbour then went to one of the restaurants near by afterwards for lunch. Lunch specials are a big part of stretching your dollar in Sydney. We were able to have pesto pasta and chicken with a drink for 20 Aud, which is a steal at a nicer restaurant in a touristy area. It is also important to remember that you do not tip here so that 20 dollars includes tip and tax! The WILD zoo was nowhere near as big as the Taronga Zoo but it was unique. We were able to walk through the kangaroo exhibit, and the focus was strictly Australian animals. I learned about the deadliest snakes in Australia as well as one of the 10 deadliest birds in the world that is found in the Rainforest I will be visiting at the end of the trip. This bird is called the cassowary and it uses spurs to attack people. It is a large bird similar to the size of an Emu (picture below). Overall it was a fun day with a relaxing evening before the workweek begins again!
Cheers!
